The MSF trade union is to start a series of one day strikes at regional technical colleges next week in protest at delays in pay talks under the Programme for Competitiveness and Work, writes Padraig Yeates, Industry and Employment Correspondent.

The first stoppage is planned for Monday and the RTCs affected are Dundalk, Letterkenny, Athlone, Limerick, Sligo, Cork and Tallaght, Co Dublin.

The staff concerned are mainly technical assistants responsible for laboratories, equipment and organising practical lectures. The MSF regional officer, Mr Dermot Mahon, said that the stoppages were aimed at bringing their growing frustration at delays in pay talks to the attention of management.
