The Lord Mayor of Dublin has backed a call for a centralised application system to help young people acquire homes under the Affordable Housing Scheme.

Lord Mayor Cllr Catherine Byrne echoed a call made on Wednesday by John O'Connor, a board member of the Affordable Homes Partnership (AHP), who suggested a central application system for all Dublin local authorities could speed up the process.

She said the creation of a walk-in office and a web-based application system could help eliminate confusion by streamlining the applications system.

"At the moment we don't have a web-based central application system for all local authorities. This could be provided by the new Affordable Homes Partnership," said the Lord Mayor.
