A man was charged yesterday with a £160,000 Securicor robbery for which a former employee of the company is serving a 12-year sentence. Mr Paul Umberto Meli (27) from Dunmurry, was charged at Belfast Magistrates' Court with using a knife to commit the robbery on September 5th, 1997.

He was also charged with another Securicor robbery, involving £25,000, outside a bank at Glengormley on May 30th, 1997, and armed robbery of £3,200 at St James Post Office, Falls Road, last Friday. Mr Meli was remanded in custody until November 4th.
