A man (26) will appear at a special sitting of Cashel District Court this evening in relation to the discovery of firearms and ammunition last Thursday.

According to the gardaí, the other three men arrested have been released without charge, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to their detentions.

Shortly after noon on Thursday, gardaí on patrol near Limerick Junction railway station spotted two men acting suspiciously. When the men were searched, a sawn-off shotgun, a pistol and 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition were discovered.

Two men, aged 25 and 26, were arrested and are detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against the State Act at Tipperary Garda Station.
