A DUBLIN man murdered in Ardee, Co Louth, last year died after being shot in the chest, his inquest heard yesterday.

A DUBLIN man murdered in Ardee, Co Louth, last year died after being shot in the chest, his inquest heard yesterday.

Stephen Hanaphy, also known as Stephen Lyndon (20), Cromcastle Court, Coolock, collapsed and died after being shot outside a house in the Sliabh Breagh estate in Ardee but his body was not found for a number of hours.

The Garda investigation into the murder is continuing and the Louth county coroner Ronan Maguire was yesterday told that when the file is complete it will be forwarded to the DPP.

His body was found on a green area in the estate in the early hours of October 30th and he was pronounced dead there by GP Dr Marlien Mienie who was the doctor on call that night.

The postmortem was carried out by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jaber who concluded he died from acute haemorrhagic hypovolaemic shock due to a penetrating gunshot wound to the chest. Mr Maguire adjourned the inquest after expressing his sympathies to the family.
