A fast-food worker who headbutted his pregnant girlfriend was given a suspended prison sentence yesterday. Asoka Priyantha (30) of Iona Road, Glasnevin, pleaded guilty at Dublin District Court to burglary at the home of his estranged girlfriend with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.
Garda Gary Tobin said the defendant broke into the woman's home in Drumcondra. Judge Haughton imposed a three-month suspended sentence on condition the defendant entered a bond to keep the peace for two years.
