Loughgall wins Ireland's Best Kept Town award

Loughgall in Co Armagh has been awarded the title of Ireland’s Best Kept Town.

Loughgall in Co Armagh has been awarded the title of Ireland’s Best Kept Town.

It also won the top prize in the Best Kept Village category of the awards, which are co-organised by the Department of the Environment and the Northern Ireland Amenity Council (NIAC).

Top prizes also went to Westport, Co Mayo, which was named Best Kept Small Town, and Kilarney, Co Kerry, which one in the Large Town division.

The three towns were each presented with cheques for €3,200, with Loughgall getting an additional bonus of €3,200 for being overall winner.

Fifteen towns from 12 different counties, north and south of the Border, entered the annual contest, which brings together the best entrants of the Tidy Towns Competition and the NIAC’s "Best Kept Awards".
