A 12-year-old boy was today cleared of murdering 15-year-old Kaiser Osman following a three-week trial at the Old Bailey.

The accused boy, standing in his school uniform, began swaying after the jury found him not guilty of murder and manslaughter.

Later, he left the courtroom hand-in-hand with the court's head of security as his mother stayed behind to speak to lawyers.

The boy, who was 11 when Kaiser, a Somali refugee, was stabbed through the heart in March, this year, was one of the youngest children to be tried for murder.

Another boy (15), who was 14 when he stabbed Kaiser, was cleared of murder but found guilty of manslaughter.

The judge Mrs Justice Rafferty will sentence the older boy, who has a low IQ, later this afternoon.
