League chiefs seek ITV Digital settlement

Carlton Communications and Granada are under increasing pressure to settle with the Football League over ITV Digital.

Carlton Communications and Granada are under increasing pressure to settle with the Football League over ITV Digital.

League chiefs say that, if necessary, they will start proceedings against the parent companies of ITV Digital following talks between representatives from 24 First Division clubs and the league.

A statement from the League said it would launch a legal battle for the £179 million sterling owed plus damages and costs, and the claims would be expected to be in the region of £500 million sterling.

The Board of the Football League want an assurance that the £89.25 million sterling due to the League in August this year will be paid.
