LONDON - The murder conviction of Philip English, a teenager convicted of stabbing a policeman despite being 100 yards away and in handcuffs, was quashed by the House of Lords yesterday. In a hearing lasting just a few minutes five Law Lords overturned the 19year-old's 1994 conviction for the murder of Sgt Bill Forth in Gateshead. - (PA)
