Harry Kewell will not be announcing his expected transfer from Leeds to Liverpool on Australian television this morning after the two clubs apparently hit an "11th-hour hitch".

The Leeds midfielder has done an exclusive interview with Channel Nine and it was scheduled to air today as part of the network's `A Current Affair' show. But a spokesman from the programme confirmed the interview had been shelved pending word from England that the deal had been completed.

"I can tell you we are not running it tonight," he said. "There has been an 11th-hour hitch between the two clubs and I don't think it is a signed and sealed deal yet. We have done an interview with Harry but no we are not running it tonight. You can appreciate with the time difference, we don't have the green light yet."

Kewell has been at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war, involving Manchester United, Arsenal and Barcelona.

It is thought that in the interview, Kewell will confirm his decision to sign for Liverpool, the team he supported as a boy.

In an excerpt from the interview, running on Australian television today, Kewell said: "I have been speaking to them [the club concerned] for over six months and everything just seems to be right for me to go there."
