Two motorcyclists have been killed in a crash involving two bikes outside Listowel, Co Kerry, just before 5pm today.

Two motorcyclists have been killed in a crash involving two bikes outside Listowel, Co Kerry, just before 5pm today.

The crash happened on the R557 betweeen Finuge and Lixnaw, according to gardaí. The bodies of both men, believed to be in their 20s, have been removed to Tralee General Hospital for postmortems.

A third person was injured and is being treated in hospital. The road remains closed.

The latest deaths bring to seven the number of people who have died on the State’s roads since Friday.

Earlier today, a woman died following a crash on the R336 at Rusheen, Bearna road, Galway, this afternoon.

The woman, in her late 70s, was a front-seat passenger in a car that collided with a camper van at about 3.45 pm. She was taken to University College Hospital Galway but died there a short time later.

The male drivers of the van and the car were taken to hospital for treatment.

Elsewhere, a man (43) died after he was struck by a car on the Dublin-to-Cork road near Durrow, Co Laois, at 12.20am.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was removed to the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.

In Co Letrim, a man (63) was killed in a single-vehicle crash at around 4.30pm yesterday at Tooma, Cloone. His body was removed to Sligo General Hospital.

Gardaí at Youghal, Co Cork, are investigating a fatal crash on the N25 at Grange, Ardmore, Co Waterford.

The driver of a car was fatally injured shortly before 6.30pm yesterday when his car collided with a tractor and bailing machine. A male passenger was taken to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries.

Elsewhere in the county, a man died in a two-car collision at Dromasta, Drimoleague, Co Cork, at 10.30pm on Friday.
