Security is being stepped up at Channel 4's Big Brother house after two intruders broke in.

The men scaled two perimeter fences and got into the garden of the British channel's popularity contest game show. Once there, they jumped on to the hot tub, scarcely unable to believe they had made it.

They cheered into the cameras: "We're in the Big Brother house."

They paid little attention to the housemates who had flocked to the garden to watch the commotion.

Irish contestant Brian ran to the pair and challenged them, shouting: "What are you doing?"

Big Brother told the housemates to lock themselves inside before security guards escorted the men from the site.

The show's executive producer, Mr Conrad Green, said security measures would be reviewed to ensure there is no repeat of the incident.

He said: "This was a foolish undertaking and they were very lucky not to have been seriously hurt as the house is surrounded by razor wire and the security guards have dogs."
