London - Police and social services are investigating allegations of child abuse at the London Oratory School, one of Britain's leading Catholic academic institutions, Rachel Donnelly reports.

The investigation was launched after several pupils claimed they were abused by the school's former governor and chaplain, the Rev David Martin (44), who died of what is thought to have been an AIDS-related illness two years ago. The teenage sons of the Prime Minister, Mr Tony Blair, Euan and Nicky, are day pupils at the school, but there is no suggestion that they are involved in the investigation.

Allegations against Father Martin were first made in a series of anonymous letters to members of the Westminster diocese, where the school is situated, and the media earlier this year.
