President Barack Obama said yesterday that this week he would present a list of "sensible, common sense steps" from vice-president Joe Biden to reduce gun violence and vowed to work vigorously to implement them.
Although the proposals have not been made public, Mr Obama reiterated that he would support reinstating a ban on assault weapons, stricter controls on high-capacity ammunition clips, and stronger background checks. Mr Biden and other members of cabinet met officials in the weapons industry after the recent school shooting in Newtown. - (Reuters)
