Gardai investigate woman's death in Leitrim

Gardaí are this evening investigating the circumstances behind the death of a woman in County Leitrim

Gardaí are this evening investigating the circumstances behind the death of a woman in County Leitrim. The woman, who is said to be in her late fifties, was found lying outside her house in Mohill at around 8.30 this morning by a neighbour.

She was taken to Sligo General Hospital where she died at around 3 p.m. The cause of death is not known but it is understood that both the woman's dogs have been put down.

Gardaí have sealed off the area to allow for a forensic examination. Deputy State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy is due to carry out a postmortem on the woman's body in the morning.
