Gardaí in Limerick were last night investigating two separate shootings at houses in the Moyross estate in the city.
Shots were fired at a house in Delmege Park shortly after midnight on Thursday night causing damage to the front window and door. The house was occupied at the time, but nobody was injured.
Less than 30 minutes later more shots were fired at another house in Delmege Park. There were a number of people in the house at the time but nobody suffered any injuries.
The latest shootings may be linked to recent violent incidents in the Moyross area between feuding factions.
However, a Garda spokesman said it was too early to confirm a motive for the attack.
"House-to-house inquiries are under way in an effort to find out the motive for these shooting incidents," said a spokesman.
Since the gangland killing of Frankie Ryan in Moyross last month and the petrol bomb attack which left two young children seriously injured, there have been several shootings in the area.
The latest incidents took place just 48 hours before the Government is due to unveil details of an initiative aimed at addressing issues of poverty and crime in the area.
During a recent visit to Limerick Justice Minister Michael McDowell said the new Moyross co-ordinator would have strong Limerick connections and will have direct access to the Cabinet.
