A cash machine stolen in a ram raid in Carlow town overnight, has been found in a field in nearby Castledermot. No money was taken as the gang failed to break into the machine.

The Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) was taken in a ram raid on an Ulster Bank cash dispenser at a service station on O’Brien Road at around 4.20 a.m., leaving

a hole in the wall where its hole-in-the-wall once was.

A motor recovery truck was used to smash into the wall and the machine was towed away in the direction of Castledermot.

Witnesses say the truck could be seen with the ATM machine hanging out of the back driving through the county Carlow countryside.

The Garda say the tow truck used in the raid has now been recovered and believe a white car was been used in the getaway.
