New Delhi - Ms Sonia Gandhi decided yesterday to withdraw her resignation as president of India's main opposition Congress party, cheering her followers at the end of a week-long political drama centred on a party rebellion.
Jubilant activists set off firecrackers as party spokesman Mr Pranab Mukherjee announced that the Italian-born leader would return to preside over a key session of the beleaguered party today before elections four months away.
