A 28-year-old Irishman has been found dead in his tent at a music festival in Spain, apparently after a fatal asthma attack.

The body of Brian Carty from Galway was found late on Friday night by the dead man's cousin at the campsite of the festival in Benicassim, 241km (150 miles) south of Barcelona on Spain's Mediterranean coast.

His body has since been removed to police headquarters in the nearby city of Castellon, where a postmortem is due to be carried out later today. According to his cousin, Mr Carty had felt unwell earlier on Friday while they were on the beach and had returned to his tent for a rest.

Mr Carty's cousin stayed on the beach and later went on to the concerts being held that night as part of the festival.
