THE BABY girl whose death is under Garda investigation will be buried today.
The seven-week-old infant will be laid to rest in Sligo cemetery following a Mass of the Angels in the town’s St Ann’s Church near her home in Sligo.
The body was reposing last night at an aunt’s house not far from the infant’s home. The removal will take place from there to the church this morning.
Meanwhile, gardaí last night said they are continuing their inquiries into the death of the child on Tuesday at Sligo General Hospital where she had been on a life-support system since being taken there in a coma by her parents last Saturday.
The couple said they believed the child fell to the floor from her Moses basket in their bedroom.
A postmortem examination has proved inconclusive and gardaí said the State Pathologist’s office would be carrying out further tests in the next days and weeks.
The infant’s parents, who are in their mid-20s, have two other children who are being cared for by relatives while the family grieves.
