Perceived throughout her career as an icy, ironic and literate songwriter, time and critical perspective has been kind to Suzanne Vega (right). Now with a young daughter to perhaps temper her more venerable, sophisticated concerns, Vega's commercial profile has diminished considerably since the heady days of Luka and Marlene On The Wall. She remains an excellent, intelligent songwriter, however (an anthology of her writings has just been published in America), continually open to the possibilities of what makes sense within current folk parameters. She was last in Ireland a couple of years ago with a band. This time, it's just her and her guitars. She plays Dublin's HQ next Monday and Tuesday.
