An investigation has begun into an incident this morning where a ferry, which had been docking in Rosslare harbour, damaged a lifeboat facility.

The incident happened at around 7 a.m. this morning when the Stena Line ship Koningin Beatrix, reversed into its allotted berth in the harbour.

The vessel is said to have suffered a temporary loss of power and damaged a lifeboat holding facility at the pier.

The ferry, which was sailing from Fishguard in Wales, had 175 passengers on board. None were injured in the incident.

Both the Department of the Marine and the shipping company are investigating the matter.
