This is the first time Mr Wright has been given a meeting with any senior British government official since his son's death over three years ago.
Mr Peter Mandelson and Dr Mo Mowlam both refused to meet members of the Wright family during their time as Northern Secretary.
Welcoming the opportunity to raise his concerns in person with the Northern Secretary, Mr David Wright said he intended to present in detail to Dr Reid a list of what he called, "the serious unanswered questions which surround the circumstances of my son's murder".
Last Friday Mr Wright spent over two hours at H Block 6 in the Maze prison. He said the visit had confirmed his own views on the murder and that the answers he had received before from the RUC and Northern Ireland Office were totally unacceptable.
"My concerns today are deeper and broader than they have ever been", Mr Wright said. "Quite simply, what the British government wants me to accept, I cannot. I know the issues that must be confronted."
Mr Wright, who claims his son's death was "state sponsored" is campaigning for a full public inquiry to be set up to examine the full circumstances of the prison killing.
