Father and son escape Belfast car chase murder bid

PSNI detectives in Belfast are treating as attempted murder a terrifying car chasethat left a man seriously injured.

PSNI detectives in Belfast are treating as attempted murder a terrifying car chasethat left a man seriously injured.

The man, who was in his car with his teenage son, suffered a broken leg andhead injuries after they were pursued in north Belfast.

Their blue Granada crashed into a fence at the junction of North Queen Streetand Victoria Parade after being struck by the car, believed to a dark colouredLaguna.

After the collision, the driver and his son ran off, chased by a man wieldinga hammer. The Laguna then resumed the chase,mounted the footpath and struckthe man.

The car then made off with the armed assailant on board.

A police spokeswoman said detectives were investigating a motive for theattack, which is not thought to be sectarian.
