An ex-PSNI officer who indecently assaulted a suicide victim's mother was jailed for three years today.

Martin Kift (44) also pestered the grieving woman into looking at photos of the 18-year-old after he was found hanging in 2002.

Over a two-year period he phoned and called at her home repeatedly, making unwanted lewd remarks, caressing, hugging and kissing her.

After police launched an inquiry into his behaviour, Kift, of Middleton Park, Islandmagee, Co Antrim, wrote an anonymous letter to his victim, claiming to be a police colleague, and warned that the predator was suicidal because of her complaints.
