Euro-zone monetary reserves rise

The net foreign currency reserves of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) rose by euro 300 million to euro 273.9 billion in the week to July 13th, the ECB said today.

The ESCB comprises the European Central Bank and the central banks of the 12 euro-zone countries.

Assets held in gold and gold receivables were unchanged at euro 128.512 billion.

The amount of banknotes in circulation declined by the equivalent of euro 1.1 billionto euro 352.5 billion. Liabilities to national governments decreased by euro 5.4 billion to euro 33.5 billion, the ECB said.
