Enterprise Ireland supported the creation of 75 new export-focused companies in 2005, Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Micheál Martin said today.
Funding of €17 million was allocated to the start-ups as part of the overall €83 million investment required to establish the companies.
According to Mr Martin, these companies are expected to create more than 1,400 jobs for high-skilled employees while generating exports valued at more than €180 million within the next two years.
Speaking at Enterprise Ireland's Annual start-up showcase today, Mr Martin said: "The growing number of new companies with significant export and growth potential is essential for the Irish economy."
The new companies possesses specialist expertise from a range of industry sectors, including bio-technology, medical technology, food, telecommunications, electronics and software development.
