Speculation is mounting that Republic of Ireland star Damien Duff is on the verge of leaving Blackburn to join Liverpool.
The 23 year-old earlier this week rejected Blackburn’s offer of an improved contract and is said to be at the top of Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier’s shopping list. Liverpool yesterday released their player squad numbers for the coming season and pointedly kept the number 11 shirt - the traditional left-winger’s jersey - free.
