Former Crystal Palace striker Iain Dowie has returned to Selhurst Park as manager of the First Division club.

Former Crystal Palace striker Iain Dowie has returned to Selhurst Park as manager of the First Division club.

Dowie quit as boss of cash-strapped Oldham, who are currently in administration, to fill the vacancy at the London club.

He spent eight months with Palace as a player in 1995, and will take over from Kit Symons who has been in charge on a temporary basis following the sacking of Steve Kember last month.

Dowie will leave his post at Oldham immediately and will not be in charge for the Latics' home game against QPR today.
