Designer Kiely awarded OBE for services to fashion industry

Dublin designer Orla Kiely has been awarded an OBE for her services to the fashion industry.

Dublin designer Orla Kiely has been awarded an OBE for her services to the fashion industry.

Irish ambassador to Britain Bobby McDonagh presented the award to Ms Kiely at the Irish Embassy in London yesterday.

The 48-year-old grew up in Dublin and studied fashion and textiles at the National College of Art. Ms Kiely now has two stores in London and her products, including clothes, fragrances, eyewear and furniture, are sold in 30 countries.

Speaking in advance of the event, Ms Kiely said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be recognised in this way.”
