THE High Court yesterday fixed next Tuesday for the hearing of a legal challenge by a Cork GP, Dr James Barry, to the Medical Council's decision to hold an inquiry in private into allegations of professional misconduct against him.

A previous court hearing was told that a number of inquiries by the council's Fitness to Practise Committee would effectively be sidelined pending the decision.

Last December Dr Barry, of Glanmire, Cork, in an appeal to the Supreme Court was granted leave for a judicial review.
