Greek Prime Minister Costas Simitis said today it was unlikely that a deal would be struck in Copenhagen on the divided island of Cyprus, which the EU would like to invite to join as a united island.
"I don't think that it will be possible to conclude. I cannot exclude it, this is still possible," he told reporters, pointing out that Turkish Cypriot leader Mr Rauf Denktash is ill and not in Copenhagen.
"It is in our opinion not very probable that his representative will be able to take if necessary any decisions," Mr Simitis said.
