University of Limerick academic Jennifer Schweppe has been elected as president of the Irish Association of Law Teachers (IALT) for the Academic Year 2009-2010.

Since its inception in 1979 the IALT has been an all-island organisation bringing together legal academics and teachers of law from both sides of the Border. It is committed to furthering excellence in legal education and research through conferences, research projects and through acting as a collective voice for law teachers. It will hold its 30th anniversary seminar chaired by the Chief Justice, Mr Justice Murray, later this month, and its annual conference later in the year.
