A Colombian man arrested in connection with a burglary at a top Dublin hotel was remanded in custody today.

A Colombian man arrested in connection with a burglary at a top Dublin hotel was remanded in custody today.

Alejandro Cuenca, a name Gardaí believe is an alias for 29-year-old Juan Carlos Guzman-Betancourt, was arrested following the theft at a room in the five-star Merrion Hotel two weeks ago.

He is charged with burglary and three counts of using a stolen credit card.

Cuenca did not speak at the short hearing today at Cloverhill District Court, Clondalkin, Dublin.

He was remanded in custody by Judge Patrick Brady until July 15 for a directions hearing.
