Washington - A woman fleeing her estranged boyfriend made a frantic emergency mobile phone call before her car was pushed into the path of a freight train by the car chasing her.

The woman was killed on Thursday at Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, along with another woman and two children in the vehicle.

"We feel that we have a good idea who is responsible for this tragedy, and we're pursuing that person now," Cpl Bruce Edwards of the state police said.

The crash followed a chase in and around the town that lasted for about half an hour and reached speeds up to 90 m.p.h., police said.
