Gardaí in Kerry are appealing for information concerning a fatal road accident in Tralee earlier today in which a 14-year-old boy was struck by a lorry while walking to school.
The incident occurred near the Clash West roundabout at around 8.45am. The boy was taken to Kerry General Hospital where he died a short time later.
Gardaí said: "The offending vehicle was an articulated lorry with a white/yellow cab, drawing a 40 foot flat body trailer."
"There was a steel container approximately 30 foot long sitting on the back of the trailer. The container was in poor condition and possibly rusty," they added.
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses of the incident to contact them at Tralee Garda station on 066 7122022.
Elsewhere, a 20-year-old woman was killed when the car she was driving struck a wall in Co Waterford.
The incident occurred at Williamstown at around 2pm and there were no other vehicles involved. The deceased woman was removed to Waterford General Hospital.
Meanwhile gardaí have named the victim of a two-car collision in Wexford yesterday as Anthony Ahern (26) from Ard Mhicil, New Ross.
Mr Ahern died after his car collided with another vehicle in Artramon, Castlebridge, at 7.15am.
