A retrial in the case of a man sentenced to life imprisonment last March for causing grievous bodily harm to his niece was directed by the Court of Criminal Appeal. The charge had been brought against Mr Raymond McBride (51) of Woodfort Park, Monastery Road, Clondalkin, Co Dublin.
Mr Justice Blayney said the Circuit Criminal Court judge had erred in the way he charged the jury and there had been omissions in the charge.
