Blackburn - A senior Church of England minister has been suspended after being arrested in connection with child pornography on the Internet.

The Archdeacon of Blackburn, the Ven Dr John Marsh (53), was interviewed by Lancashire police last week after a computer taken in for repair was handed to police.

Dr Marsh, who is married with two children, was released on bail. A spokesman for the Church of England said the Bishop of Blackburn, the Right Rev Alan Chesters, had suspended Dr Marsh.
