Fair City actor Thomas Jordan, convicted last month for his part in a car insurance fraud, has had an order to complete 220 hours community service confirmed by Dublin District Court. A probation officer's report, which outlined his suitability, was handed into the court yesterday.

Jordan (57) of Elm Mount Avenue, Beaumont, Dublin pleaded guilty to conspiring to defraud Cornhill Insurance by taking part in a staged traffic accident at Hollywood Crescent, Drumcondra on February 14th, 1989.

After hearing evidence that Jordan, who plays Charlie Kelly in Fair City, was a minor player in the incident, Judge David Riordan ordered him to do community service work in lieu of a prison sentence.

The court also heard Jordan had paid £500 compensation to the insurance company.
