Around 5,000 delegates are expected to attend the 70 thFianna Fáil Ard Fheis at the City West hotel in Dublin this weekend.
The slogan for the Ard Fheis will be "A Fairer, Stronger Ireland".
Minister for Education Mary Hanafin said this afternoon she hopes the Ard Fheis will "energise the party to build on the success of the last few years".
However, Ms Hanafin added she does not expect any of her Cabinet colleagues to announce any new policies so close to a General Election and with the party manifesto due shortly.
Ms Hanafin said the motions put forward by various Fianna Fáil Cumann are "not the usual congratulatory ones. They are looking to the future.
"This is the message we will be getting across. Maintaining the strong economy, building on it and spending on it in the future.
"This Ard Fheis is about looking at our success and building on it and energising the organisation all over the country to get behind our candidates," said Ms Hanafin.
