Three Englishmen were remanded in custody yesterday in connection with the seizure of cannabis resin on a converted trawler off the west Cork coast earlier this week.

Mr Richard George Preece (49), from London, Mr Barry Court (52) and Mr Matthew Paul Simpkins (32), both with addresses in Spain, were charged with possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply on November 16th, at Macroom District Court yesterday.

The State solicitor for West Cork, Mr Malachy Boohig, applied to have all three men remanded in custody to Bantry District Court on Friday.

The men's solicitor, Mr Con Murphy, said his clients had no objection to being remanded in custody.
