Tunceli - Sixteen rebels and three soldiers have been killed in fighting between security forces and Kurdish separatists in south-eastern Turkey, a military official said yesterday.

Fighting between Turkish paramilitary forces and Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) rebels, who launched an armed campaign for self-rule in 1984, has claimed more than 30,000 lives.
