Bike News: BMW has updated its three touring motorcycles – the R 1200 RT, R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure. All have a new version of BMW's four-valve, DOHC boxer engine.

The RT has a new 1,170cc, four-valve, DOHC engine with a maximum power output of 110hp at 7,750rpm and an increase in torque from 115Nm to 120Nm at 6,000rpm. It has integral ABS as standard, new Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA II), a new fairing design and a re-designed cockpit. Both the R 1200 GS and GS Adventure have new cylinder head covers, new LED headlamps, an Akrapovic sports silencer and carbon heat shield.

Joe Duffy Motorrad, Finglas, says they will be in its showrooms in early 2010.

The all-new Honda Shadow RS 750 has a liquid-cooled 745cc v-twin engine with 42bhp. It has a double-cradle steel tube frame, 41mm forks and a sizable 150-section rear tyre. The seat is 737mm high, which will suit the smaller biker. Prices and availability to be announced.

See superbike up close and test it

This weekend sees the arrival of another exciting BMW bike; the S1000 RR which comes after, “almost two years of intense development, and a full season in the World Superbike Championship, ” says BMW Motorrad.
