TWO MAJOR Irish sports stars could soon be calling in to Uncle Gaybo for their elevenses, if rumours about who has been having private viewings at the Shrewsbury Square scheme in Ballsbridge are true.

Around The Block has it on good authority that two household names in the world of sport are keen on acquiring a pad at the luxury scheme. With Gaybo already on board, a starry sports connection would be the icing on the cake for developers Jonny Burns and Sebastian Devlin who bagged close to ¬20m worth of sales since the scheme launched last week. Four of the available six penthouses were sold. These weren't cheap with prices starting at €2.3m, but that didn't deter buyers who, we're told, were all wealthy businessmen of mature years.

Nine two-bed apartments were also purchased. Buyers here ranged from country investors, city downsizers and lucky young 'uns getting a leg up from mummy and daddy.

Agents Hooke & MacDonald and Douglas Newman Good will be patting themselves on the back for such a good haul in a so-called slow market.

Swish fit-out and fancy address aside, buyers at the scheme were no doubt won over by the charms of concierge Brian Sutton who, fresh from the Westin Hotel, blends five-star class with a can-do attitude.
