The owners of the Flagship Shopping Centre in Bangor, Co Down are to carry out a £35 million sterling refurbishment and expansion to provide an additional 24,000 sq ft of retail accommodation. The 150,000-sq ft centre was bought in late 1999 by a Norther n Ireland-based investor for a reported £14.8 million sterling. Tenants include Dunnes Stores, Co-Op Foodstore, Argos, and Iceland. The commercial property and building advance information company, CIC, reports that Dunnes and the Co-op have already begun refurbishment at Flagship and that discussions are under way with major retailers about letting additional space.
