Hitting the Tiles

Only the most enthusiastic decorexics will associate tile shops with a good day out

Only the most enthusiastic decorexics will associate tile shops with a good day out. In terms of fun times, a trip to pick out the perfect tile is up there with watching grout dry.

One of Ireland’s most established tile merchants, Tilestyle in Co Dublin, is trying a more creative way to lure in the punters by installing designer Orla Kaminska as its artist-in-residence this month. On September 18th, Kaminska is offering a free ceramics workshops, where participants can learn about the craft’s history and try their hand at creating their own work of art. If that whets your appetite, sign up for a series of workshops starting at the company’s Ballymount premises on September 27th. Tel: 01-8555200 or email orla@orlakaminska.com.
