Fashion Forward: Big day out for brides-to-be and beautiful scarves

Dominique McMullan and Deirdre McQuillan round up this week’s fashion news and style tips

STRIKING SCARVES FOR SUMMER

Another Irish scarf designer is quickly making her mark with very striking creations. Dubliner Sarah Swan studied interior design at the Dublin Institute of Design, art history and Italian in UCD and followed that with design work in London, Paris and in Italy.

Her large cashmere cotton scarves are made in Italy, come in over a dozen different designs including one in two colours that features the brand’s mandala-style logo.

The daughter of Judy Hill, a leading photographic model in the 1970s and Louis Murray, the well-known nightclub owner, Swan works with artist Peter Homan to create pieces that can be worn in many ways – as a stole, casually wrapped, tied with a belt or even as a beach sarong. Find them in Havana boutique, Donnybrook, Ellen B boutiques in Clontarf and Malahide, Emporium Kalu in Naas and Juju in Greystones, for €249 each.

Style Secret

“Embrace who you are, know what styles you like and reflect your personality. Be your best self and feel good about your own style choices. Once you feel amazing, nobody can take that away from you.”

– Clara Halpin, head of personal shopping at Arnotts

Brides-to-be event in Westbury Hotel

The newly engaged UTV fashion stylist and blogger Holly White who is planning her wedding next year, has been overwhelmed by how time consuming booking wedding dress appointments, make-up and hair trials have been as she struggles to get everything shipshape.

So she has decided to create a day out in the Westbury Hotel in Dublin for others like her in the same position on July 2nd. Attendees will experience a day of beauty advice, make-up and hair demonstrations, a fashion show from four Irish bridal boutiques and a Q&A with a wedding planner who has over 10 years' experience.

Tickets for this fun day out for brides-to-be cost €75 from www.holly.ie/bridal (code Holly) and that includes afternoon tea. There are further details at holly.ie

Future of online shopping is here

The online shopping site opsh.com has had a makeover and so far we like what we see. With more brands added such as Missy Empire and Lifestyle Sports and a site that is faster and easier to browse, our Opsh wishlist is growing fast. This is online shopping at the next level with functions like a Netflix page so you can "chill" while Opsh picks out bits they think you might like.

We especially like the StyleSquad section, in which you can have a look at what other shoppers are buying. #Werk ladies.
