Lusaka - Zambia's ex-president, Mr Kenneth Kaunda, has survived an assassination bid, his son said yesterday, two days after a high court stripped the veteran politician of his citizenship in a controversial ruling. His son Wezi blamed the ruling regime.

Four gunmen opened fire at Mr Kaunda's car outside his Lusaka house on Thursday night. Mr Kaunda was not in the car.
