What is the status of the next James Bond film? Last week we reported that, following the financial implosion of MGM, production had been cancelled. It has been reported, however, that Sam Mendes, the rumoured director, and star Daniel Craig are convinced the project will see the light of day. Mind you, Craig is soon to begin filming David Fincher’s English- language version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Mendes is circling an adaptation of Ian McEwan’s On Chesil Beach. So, I still wouldn’t hold your breath.
You don’t want Mel mad at you
Have you noticed the extreme levels of caution the mainstream media have brought to their reporting of that Mel Gibson story? Understandable enough, we suppose. A tape has emerged of a Mel-like voice ranting in a racist, misogynist fashion at Oksana Grigorieva, the star’s former partner, but, at time of writing, the Gibson organisation had neither confirmed nor denied its authenticity.
As well as fearing legal repercussions, media outlets are a bit uneasy about the way in which the recording was obtained. Anyway, if you want to hear it, you know where to look.
